Nadim Sawaya grew up listening to tango on his father’s old vinyl records. This early introduction to Tango music gave him the base that would later make him one of Australia’s well-loved Tango DJ’s. Nadim has been an avid music student his entire life, playing the cello in several orchestras before discovering the joys of dancing Tango.

Nadim has been an avid music student his entire life, playing the cello in several orchestras before discovering the joys of dancing Tango. Nowadays, he puts this musical background to use in constructing beautiful Tango evenings, keeping everyone dancing until the last tanda! He is regularly invited to DJ at many festivals and events around Australia as well as overseas.

Introducing María Inés Bogado, a distinguished Argentine dancer who embarked on her artistic journey with folklore, transitioning seamlessly to tango in 1994. Her remarkable accolades include the titles of World Champion in Tango Salón and Metropolitan Champion of Vals in 2010. Since then, María Inés has danced on stages across six continents, captivating audiences with her unparalleled talent and passion for the art form.
Hailing from Ukraine, Sergiy Podbolotnyy developed an enduring fascination with the profound partner connection inherent in tango. In Shanghai, from 2010 to 2019, he established the esteemed TangoGo dance school, fostering a community of dedicated tango enthusiasts. In 2020, Sergiy joined forces with María Inés in creating "Superior Tango" project in Kyiv, dedicated to enhancing the skills of local dancers. Their collaborative efforts extended to the co-organization of the Bailemos Festival in 2021, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership that continues to enrich tango communities worldwide through their joint participation in international festivals and workshops.
Owners of Tango Esencia in Richmond, Melbourne, Rina and Nadim Sawaya teach and perform at many events and festivals, both nationally and internationally. They have danced in the prestigious dance halls of Buenos Aires, teach and perform at Tango festivals around Australia, and in Japan.
Starting ballet at age three, Rina trained in different dance genres before finally falling in love with Tango. Rina taught and performed in Tokyo before arriving in Melbourne in 2012. Nadim, with his musical background of playing the Cello is a well respected Tango DJ who created the Tango movement in Melbourne and is known for his musicality as a dancer.
Recognised for their clarity of communication in their comprehensive method of teaching, the enthusiasm and joy they bring to their classes and dance is contagious. Their connection in the dance as well as their smooth and musical expressions are greatly revered by students who keep coming back for more of their teaching. They are highly regarded for their focus in classes on improving the body's natural coordination, and their deep understanding of body mechanics. This focus is evident in their grace and elegance in their movements and connection in their dance.
Jacqueline Gutierrez Simpson, born in Chile, initiated her Tango journey in 1995 and in 2001 she started teaching in Sydney Australia. From 2001 to 2006 she worked for The World Tango Festival, in Buenos Aires, as an interpreter for the classes of Argentinean maestros like Juan Carlos Copes, Maria Nieves, Javier Rodriguez, Geraldine Rojas, Tete Rusconi and many others.
From 2007 to 2008, Jacqueline was asked to take part of a research study with the University of New England and McGill, which demonstrated that tango is as effective as meditation, as an alternative therapy for depression.
In 2007 Jacqueline and Anthony founded the prestigious school Tango Spirit. They regularly travel to perform and DJ in Festivals around the world, they are currently coaching couple to compete at the preliminaries for The World Tango Championship Bali (2023) Auckland(2024)
Jacqueline has taught and performed in Santiago de Chile (2006), with Anthony in Bali (2015,2016,2018,2019, 2023), Jakarta (2017), Tokyo (2018, 2019 2022 2023), Shanghai (2015).
In 2022, Jacqueline and Anthony where protagonist for the 100 years of Disney at Westfield and selected to be artists for the award-winning documentary Beats of Colours by Ver Mas Australia.
